For the TL;DR folks who may accidentally click on this article, I'll cut to the chase. ChatGPT adheres directly to Nancy Pelosi's stated initiative to "Establish and preserve the narrative of January 6." There's no need to sign up for ChatGPT for accurate information or news reporting. Just Google the New York Times or NPR versions of that event, or go to Wikipedia. That seems to be all this AI program is doing. It's certainly only producing a one-sided version of the events of that day. (Is the program lazy, or specifically designed to produce only the 'approved narrative?')
"Trump encouraged his supporters to march on the Capitol and urged them to 'fight' to overturn the election results," claimed the politically partisan, unthinking machine. That remark, of course, is not remotely an accurate, contextual portrayal of Trump's pre-riot speech. For some reason, the super smart ChatGPT is unaware that the violence of January 6 was initiated 24 minutes before Trump walked off the stage at The Ellipse, by individuals who did not attend the speech or hear the alleged order to "fight" to overturn the election. Nevermind that it would take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour for those who heard the speech to make their way to the Capitol, and by the time they did begin arriving -- by the thousands -- the battle and violence had already been engaged for well over an hour. Initiated by only a small fraction of those who went to the Capitol that day.
For those interested in reading the full text of my interview with ChatGPT, frankly, you'll learn nothing, apart from the realization that this particular "thinking machine" is just another entity that has been brainwashed by the MSM, Big Tech, and Swamp's preferred narrative. But, here goes. (I've made the key responses in Bold Text.)
Me: Explain who was responsible for the Capitol Riot on January 6, 2021.
ChatGPT: The responsibility for the Capitol Riot on January 6, 2021, lies with a combination of individuals and groups who participated in the event.
The rioters who physically entered the Capitol building and engaged in violent and destructive behavior are primarily responsible for the events of that day. However, there were also other groups and individuals who played a role in fueling the unrest that led to the riot, such as political leaders, social media platforms, and extremist organizations.
Specifically, former President Donald Trump has been accused of inciting the riot through his rhetoric and actions leading up to the event. In a speech he gave prior to the riot, Trump encouraged his supporters to march on the Capitol and urged them to "fight" to overturn the election results. Additionally, social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter have been criticized for not doing enough to curb the spread of misinformation and conspiracy theories that contributed to the unrest.
Overall, the responsibility for the Capitol Riot is shared by multiple individuals and groups who either participated in the riot or contributed to the political and social climate that led to it.
Me: Are the FBI and Capitol Police hiding information about undercover operatives at Capitol on January 6?
ChatGPT: There is no evidence to suggest that the FBI and Capitol Police are hiding information about undercover operatives at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
In the aftermath of the riot, there were rumors and conspiracy theories circulating online that suggested that some of the individuals who participated in the riot were actually undercover agents or law enforcement officers. However, these claims have been thoroughly investigated and debunked by law enforcement officials and independent fact-checkers.
Furthermore, both the FBI and Capitol Police have been transparent about their investigations into the events of January 6, and have released information about their efforts to identify and arrest individuals who were involved in the riot. While there may be ongoing investigations that are not yet public, there is no evidence to suggest that law enforcement agencies are hiding information about the presence of undercover operatives at the Capitol on January 6.
Me: Why was the National Guard not deployed in advance of the Capitol Riot on January 6, 2021?
ChatGPT: The decision not to deploy the National Guard in advance of the Capitol Riot on January 6, 2021, has been the subject of much scrutiny and debate.
The National Guard is typically not deployed for domestic law enforcement operations unless requested by state or local authorities or authorized by the federal government. In the case of the Capitol Riot, the request for National Guard assistance did not come until several hours after the riot had begun.
The responsibility for the decision not to deploy the National Guard in advance of the riot falls primarily on the Capitol Police, who are responsible for securing the Capitol building and its grounds.
There have also been questions raised about the response of federal law enforcement agencies, such as the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security, and whether they should have been more proactive in identifying and addressing the potential for violence leading up to the January 6 event.
Overall, the decision not to deploy the National Guard in advance of the Capitol Riot has been widely criticized, and there are ongoing investigations into the events of that day to determine what went wrong and how to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
Me: Who are the Oath Keepers?
ChatGPT: The Oath Keepers is a far-right, anti-government extremist group that was founded in 2009. The group claims to be made up of current and former military, law enforcement, and first responder personnel who have pledged to uphold the oath they took to support and defend the Constitution of the United States.
The Oath Keepers have been linked to various incidents of domestic terrorism and have been accused of promoting conspiracy theories and engaging in paramilitary activity. The group has been involved in several high-profile events, including the 2014 Bundy standoff in Nevada, the 2015 standoff at the Sugar Pine Mine in Oregon, and the 2016 armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon.
During the Capitol Riot on January 6, 2021, several members of the Oath Keepers were among the individuals who breached the Capitol building. Multiple members of the group have since been arrested and charged with crimes related to their involvement in the riot. The Oath Keepers have been labeled a domestic extremist group by the Southern Poverty Law Center and other organizations that track extremist activity in the United States.
ChatGPT: There is no evidence to suggest that elements of the United States military were directly involved in the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021.
Several individuals who have been charged in connection with the riots are reported to have military backgrounds, but they were not acting in an official capacity as members of the military at the time of the riots. The Department of Defense has stated that it has no indication of any active-duty military personnel having participated in the riots.
However, concerns have been raised about the possibility of military veterans being targeted for recruitment by extremist groups, including those involved in the Capitol riots. The Department of Defense has taken steps to address this issue, including launching a review of its policies on extremism and implementing new training and reporting requirements for service members.
It is worth noting that many Capitol Police officers acted heroically on January 6, risking their lives to protect lawmakers, staff, and visitors from the violent mob that breached the Capitol building. Several officers were injured during the attack, and some have since been recognized for their bravery and dedication to duty. However, there have also been questions raised about the response of some Capitol Police officers and the overall preparedness of law enforcement agencies for the events of that day.
I did pose other questions, but the answers were mostly nonsense or straight from MSM headlines. When I asked about the actions of then Capitol Police Asst. Chief Yogananda Pittman, literally every response given by ChatGPT was in error. The first line was entirely factually wrong:
"Yogananda Pittman is the current Chief of the United States Capitol Police, and on January 6, 2021, she held the position of Acting Chief after the previous Chief had resigned."
Pittman is currently the Chief of Police at UC Berkeley, not the Capitol Police. On Jan. 6, she was the Asst. Chief in charge of department intelligence. She was never "Chief," and was only named "Acting Chief" after Chief Steven Sund's forced resignation on January 7th.
The remarks about the transparency of the FBI and Capitol Police are proven incorrect by Congressional testimony, and their refusal to answer specific questions in that regard. The reasons for the non-deployment of the National Guard are known by the refusals -- in advance of Jan. 6 -- by published documents from DC's mayor, testimony from both House and Senate Sergeant-at-Arms, and Trump administration staffers. The deployment of US Army special forces in the crowd was first reported by yours truly on Feb. 24, 2021, then verified by Newsweek in January 2022. The AI assertion that Lt. Tarik Johnson may not even exist is entirely laughable, considering the massive international coverage of his MAGA hat-wearing rescue of trapped officers with the assistance of two Oath Keepers, and his subsequent suspension from the force. not to mention Johnson's lengthy coverage by myself and Joe Hanneman of The Epoch Times, as well as his recent appearances on NPR, Tucker Carlson, and others.
And speaking of the Oath Keepers . . . the entire response is a factually errant eye-roll, directly from Wikipedia's open-source propagandists.
It seems ChatGPT's programmers are nothing more than partisan hacks. The program is clearly not a "free-thinking" machine and is nothing more than another disinformation tool of the left.
